ANTIQUE & CLASSIC CARS
For those of you who own an Antique or Classic Car or are just interested in old cars, the ABDALLAH ANTIQUE & CLASSIC CAR UNIT is for you. We enjoy participating in shrine events with our ladies. We share our passion for cars, and have fun showing them off.
The Antique & Classic Car Unit has a proud history going back to 1975. Our cars can be seen at the beginning of each Shrine sponsored parade transporting the Potentate and his Divan members.
Any Noble of ABDALLAH SHRINE who has ownership or access to an Antique or Classic Car, or acquires one within twelve months is eligible to join the unit. The unit by-laws define an Antique Car as vintage of 25 years or older, and a Classic Car as collectibles and/or “special interest” including current production types. The dues are $10 per year.
The unit dress code for members consists of a parade uniform; black pants, white shirt and Abdallah fez. The shirt, fez and an optional satin jacket are embroidered with our unit name.
Meets 1st Wednesday
President: Pat Emmett
The Unit meets the first Wednesday of each month in the Playground Room at Abdallah Shrine. Meetings begin at 6:30 PM. Members and their ladies arrive in time to enjoy dinner together in the temple room, prior to the meeting. Dessert and fellowship is enjoyed after each monthly meeting, provided by the Antique and Classic Cars Ladies.
Abdallah temple functions are supported by our unit nobles and their ladies. They can be seen at most shrine parades, working at the American Royal, the Shrine Rodeo, selling Vidalia Onions, assisting with Bingo, dinner nights, and attending the Potentates Ball. We are active with the Membership Committee and the Red Zone Committee. The Shrine East/West Football Game and Central States Shrine Association (CSSA) programs are supported by our unit. The Antique and Classic Cars celebrate an annual holiday party and enjoy an occasional off site dinner meeting.
We are always looking for new members who would like to join the fun. Come and visit one of our meetings with your lady. For more information, contact any member of the Unit or call the Unit President listed on the home page of this website. We are always driving to help others.
